Junior Accountant - Business OperationsAthena is looking for a Junior Accountant who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to learn. We work in a spirited, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment, and we're looking for someone who can manage detailed work, adapt to evolving priorities, and collaborate effectively with internal and client teams.The Junior Accountant - Business Operations will support Athena's internal accounting and project operations while also providing dedicated business operations support to a client project. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone seeking to build practical experience across accounting, reporting, systems, and business operations. The Junior Accountant will initially prepare work for review and will gradually assume responsibility for recurring processes as they demonstrate accuracy, consistency, and an understanding of established workflows.What you'll be responsible for:Perform data entry and maintain accurate information across accounting and operational systemsSupport project lifecycle management activitiesSupport Staff Accountants with recurring accounting activities, reconciliations, schedules, and other assigned workSupport client accounting and business operations initiativesSupport client reporting, billing, and data management activitiesResearch client-requested QuickBooks functionality and help document potential solutionsDraft client invoices using approved billing information and supporting documentationCommunicate effectively with client and internal stakeholders across live meetings and written channels, including email and messaging platformsPrepare assigned work for review and incorporate feedback accurately and promptlyTransition to managing recurring processes as proficiency, accuracy, and consistency are demonstratedMaintain organized workpapers, supporting documentation, and process recordsAdhere to established workflows while identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiencyExecute special projects and ad hoc operations requestsThe skills and experience you should have:Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred0-2 years of accounting, finance, or business operations experienceIntermediate Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas, organize and review data, and identify potential errorsQuickBooks Desktop experience is a plusAbility to leverage technology tools effectively (Excel, CoPilot, QuickBooks Online)Ability to understand, analyze, and communicate data effectivelyHigh attention to detail and ownership mindsetExcellent communication skillsAbility to interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholdersAbility to work cross-functionallyAbility to manage multiple prioritiesStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to handle confidential financial and business informationMust be available to work in Philadelphia, PABenefitsMedical/Dental benefits including 1K Health Reimbursement AccountMatching 401KGenerous PTO policySubstantial Parental Leave PolicyCurious about your career path at Athena?
