Technical Services Clerk III

Performs a variety of clerical and paraprofessional duties related to cataloging, processing, and repairing library materials including books and audiovisual materials, such as CDs and DVDs, magazines, and newspapers. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Audio-Visual Materials- Catalogs, processes and enters all AV items in the library’s computer systemaccording to procedures set by the library and SWAN. Periodicals-Processes and enters periodicals and maintains records of items received, missing, or damaged in shipping; Communicates with publishers and vendors regarding subscriptions; Keeps up with renewals. Assists the department head with basic cataloging as needed. Withdraw-Withdraws designated materials from the collection and database and keeps necessary statistics. Collection Maintenance-Creates reports to change the status of new items to the regular collection; Makes appropriate changes to spine labels and library’s computer system when re-cataloging collections. Serves as clerk lead, back-up to assist and train other Technical Services Clerks with duties as needed. Working Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment in a building with standard temperature levels. The noise level is usually moderate but can change depending on specific programming. This role uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Required Education, Experience and Abilities Experience in Technical Services Department required Copy cataloging experience preferred LTA certificate or Associate’s Degree Strong commitment to customer service Working knowledge of Windows OS. Ability to operate audio-visual equipment, computer hardware and software, and office machines Ability to remain calm in difficult situations Ability to work Monday – Friday, 24 hours per week/flexible days/hours. Salary Range/Benefits Hourly pay rate of$19.76 - $24.70 DOQ and internal pay equity. This is a part-time day shift (24 hours per week), non-exempt position (flexible schedule with no evenings or weekends).
