Position Summary

The Billing Clerk is responsible for compiling billing data, preparing invoices and bills, processing credits, and maintaining accurate accounting records. This position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.

• Review computer files and gather records, including purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips, to compile billing information.
• Enter billing information into computer systems and calculate amounts due.
• Prepare accurate invoices, including items sold, amounts due, credit terms, and shipment dates.
• Prepare bills of lading, including the weight and serial numbers of items sold.
• Prepare shipping labels and related shipping documentation.
• Prepare credit memorandums for returned or incorrectly billed merchandise.
• Prepare credit forms for customers and finance companies.
• Post transactions to accounting records, including worksheets, ledgers, and computer files.
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Minimum of one year of billing clerk or related accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with invoicing, billing, data entry, or accounting records is preferred.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to organize and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and employees.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining productivity.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.

The Billing Clerk works in an office environment and regularly interacts with customers, clients, vendors, and other employees. The position requires consistent attention to detail and accuracy when processing billing and accounting information.
