Details 30-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center Cares for post/pre cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6 with 2-3 CNAs per shift 12-hour day or night shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) on a 6-week rotating schedule Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of every 12 No on-call requirements Floats to all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the facility Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Utilizes unit-specific equipment including VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, and PCA pain management pumps Supported by unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource/discharge nurses, PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Central Telemetry Unit monitors cardiac rhythms Requirements Active RN license (GA or Compact) required BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required, including an EKG rhythm exam during onboarding ACLS and Medical-Surgical national certification preferred but not required Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required Experience in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and heart rate titration drips Strong clinical assessment skills suited for a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting Skilled in IV insertion, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring Experience in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation EPIC EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Telemetry nursing care including discharge planning and patient education, particularly on renal and fluid management Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapy Facility orientation includes 1 day of educational modules plus 2 days of departmental orientation Unit culture is fast-paced but team-oriented Navy scrubs required for RNs Free parking available on campus, with paid deck parking as an alternative Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's RTO requests subject to manager approval First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted with no radius rule and same rate as traveling candidates Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-684333.
