This role involves designing and manufacturing automated packaging equipment for the pharmaceutical industry and general consumer products. The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for creating mechanical designs that meet the technical, cost, and schedule criteria of projects. They will lead projects through design and serve as the primary technical contact throughout manufacturing, assembly, debugging, final acceptance, and service.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design concepts in accordance with standards.

• Deliver projects within budget.

• Lead design teams effectively.

• Act as a technical expert and provide support.

• Implement product standards.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical Design

• Proficiency in SolidWorks with at least 5 years of experience

• Experience in Machine Design and Automated Equipment for 5 years

• Project leadership skills with 5 years of experience in leading project teams or project management

• Experience with mechanisms, pneumatics, control devices, and manufacturing practices for 5 years

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, with over 5 years of experience

• Alternatively, an AS Degree with over 10 years of experience

• Experience in the packaging industry is a plus

• Motion control experience is preferred but not required

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced with both high-volume and short-duration projects, averaging 6-10 weeks in length. Some projects may be longer. The role involves working primarily in an office or cubicle setting, with occasional visits to the production floor for machine troubleshooting. The team enjoys a close-knit, laid-back atmosphere with good benefits and typically half-day Fridays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
