Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Indianapolis, Indiana.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Labor and Delivery\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 48 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 4x12hrs\n Hours: 48 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1.5 years of L&D travel experience and AWHONN Intermediate certification.Details\n \n Labor and Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital\n Facility performs 200-300 births per month\n Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30\n 48 hours guaranteed per workweek on this shift pattern\n May float to Methodist Hospital ED to provide OB-specific care alongside a primary RN, without taking a primary assignment\n On first shift floating to Methodist, arrival 30 minutes early required for unit orientation\n Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital is required for all travelers\n Uses Cerner EMR\n Patient ratio of 1:2\n Uses External and Internal Fetal Monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and radiant warmers/thermoregulation equipment\n Requirements\n \n Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date\n 1.5 years of RN experience required, including L&D travel experience\n BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required\n ACLS and AWHONN fetal monitoring/C-EFM certifications preferred\n Cerner charting experience required\n Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred\n Skilled in labor and delivery management including high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response\n Experience managing high-risk antepartum and postpartum conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, VBAC, and preterm labor\n Experience administering medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips\n Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation\n Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation\n 2 supervisor references required\n SSN and DOB required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care to a high-risk OB patient population\n Care for patients experiencing conditions such as multiple gestation, uterine rupture, and RH incompatibilities\n Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction when needed\n Manage pain control methods including epidural, general anesthesia, and opioids\n Provide couplet care and support for multiple births\n Must work 2 of 3 major holidays\n First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n Local candidates are not accepted for this position\n Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be away 12 months before applying as a traveler\n Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility; out-of-state residents require a 3-month break and in-state residents require a 6-month break\n RTO requests of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; longer requests require facility approval\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-727692.
