Maintenance Technician IISeattle Pacific University is seeking a Maintenance Technician II (two positions available) to support the day-to-day operation of campus facilities through preventive maintenance, repairs, event support, and responsive customer service. This position works across academic, residential, and administrative buildings, helping maintain safe and reliable campus operations.The Maintenance Technician II collaborates closely with other Facilities staff to complete maintenance projects, respond to service requests, support campus events, and assist with emergency operations when needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and enjoys hands-on work in a team-oriented environment. This is an in-person position located on SPU's Seattle campus.General Maintenance & Campus SupportPerform preventive maintenance and repairs in academic, residential, and administrative buildingsRespond to work orders and service requests in a timely and customer-focused mannerTroubleshoot maintenance issues and assist in maintaining safe and functional facilitiesSupport seasonal campus activities and special projects as neededCollaborate with Facilities team members to support efficient building operationsEquipment, Safety & TeamworkSafely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used in facilities maintenanceInspect work areas and ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable codesParticipate in cross-training opportunities to support multiple maintenance disciplines, including carpentry, electrical systems, doors, hardware, and general repairsContribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environmentEvent SupportAssist with campus event setup and support activitiesTransport furniture, equipment, and event materials to designated locationsSupport setup and tear-down activities for major university events, including orientation, commencement, and other campus programsCoordinate with campus partners to ensure successful event executionOn-Call & Essential OperationsParticipate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately seven weeks per year) to respond to urgent maintenance issues outside normal business hoursAssist with emergency maintenance needs and campus operations during inclement weather or emergency closuresSupport a variety of maintenance activities during on-call assignments with guidance from supervisors and team membersWhat You BringHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum of three years of experience in building maintenance, construction, facilities operations, or a related fieldAbility to troubleshoot maintenance issues and follow written and verbal instructionsDemonstrated reliability, good judgment, and commitment to workplace safetyAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamStrong customer service and communication skillsValid driver's license with a good driving recordAbility to operate a university service vehicleAbility to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditionsAbility to work in confined spaces and access building systems as neededMission Alignment: A personal commitment to Christian faith; enthusiasm for supporting SPU's mission; alignment with the University's Statement of Faith; and willingness to uphold the lifestyle standards of our Christian communityPreferred QualificationsEducation or training in facilities maintenance, construction, building systems, or a related tradeExperience reading and interpreting blueprintsKnowledge of building, plumbing, electrical, and fire codesExperience working in a college, university, healthcare, hospitality, or other institutional environmentWashington State Driver's LicenseAbility to obtain and maintain a 16-hour Asbestos Worker Certification (training provided as needed)Ability to obtain and maintain an 8-hour Lead Renovator Certification (training provided as needed)Compensation & Position DetailsSalary Range: $29.32-$33.15 per hour, depending on experienceStatus: Full-time, two positions availableDepartment: Facility ServicesLocation: Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, WA (on-campus position)Benefits: SPU pays employee premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance; provides HSA/HRA contributions; contributes 7% to a retirement account with immediate vesting (as eligible); and offers a tuition discount program for employees and qualified dependents.All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during university closures related to inclement weather or emergency situations.
