We are currently seeking an Associate Underwriter for our Surplus Lines division.

The selected candidate will be involved with a variety of underwriting activities, which includes preparation of quotes and proposals, organizing and analyzing underwriting information, working closely with multiple underwriters, and cultivating strong working relationships with agency personnel, our Rating and Loss Control staff, and other departments.

This position will be located in either our Mid-Atlantic Regional office in Glen Allen, VA or our office in Sarasota, FL.

The salary range for this position is $24.80-$38.19 hourly. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications

Experience:

Required

* Two years of commercial underwriting experience preferably in Excess & Surplus Lines casualty underwriting experience * Ability to manage multiple priorities and move easily from one project to another when circumstances warrant * Knowledge of all commercial property & casualty forms and coverages, rating rules, and underwriting and loss control principles and concepts

Preferred

* Knowledge of the independent agency system is preferred
