Job Overview A law firm seeks a Tax Attorney specializing in nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations in Durham, NC. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in this field and will work at the Senior Associate, Senior Counsel, or Junior Partner level, depending on experience and client development capabilities. Duties Advise clients on Section 501(c) status and compliance. Provide guidance on IRS filings, including Form 1023 and Form 990. Counsel on UBTI, private foundation rules, and intermediate sanctions. Support mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and joint ventures. Assist clients in IRS audits and disputes. Advise boards on governance and fiduciary duties. Requirements J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. At least five years of relevant experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Valid authorization to work in the U.S. Education J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications Bar membership in good standing.
