A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. POSITION SUMMARY

As a Respiratory Therapist, you play an essential role in the Respiratory Team, providing intensive respiratory care as medically prescribed. You administer medical gasses, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, aerosolized medications, non-evasive ventilation, incentive spirometry, bronchopulmonary insertion of artificial airways, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. You also manage and maintain mechanical ventilation.

With attention to detail, you measure ventilator flows, volumes, and pressures, as well as analyze ventilator gasses and blood gasses. In order to determine a treatment plan with the physician, you perform and document an initial assessment. You then effectively communicate the treatment plan to the RNs and other clinical staff as well as educate family members about it.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree with a major in respiratory therapy.
• Current NJ respiratory care practitioner license.
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certified respiratory therapist (CRT) OR registered respiratory therapist (RRT) certification required upon hire.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification required upon hire (from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association).
• Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification required within 2 months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
