This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinary leader or a veterinarian who has demonstrated strong clinical capabilities and is ready to take the next step into veterinary leadership. The Lead Veterinarian will play an important role in maintaining high standards of medical care, supporting the development of the clinical team, and working closely with practice management to ensure effective day-to-day operations. Importantly, applicants do not need extensive previous leadership experience. About the Practice The practice has served Acworth and surrounding communities since 1980, providing full-service veterinary care to clients throughout Cobb, Bartow, and Cherokee counties. The multi-doctor hospital treats primarily companion animals while also welcoming pocket pet patients, creating additional variety within the general practice caseload. Veterinarians are supported by a tenured and experienced support team, helping doctors deliver efficient, high-quality medical and surgical care. Clinical resources include: Ultrasound Cold and therapeutic laser Medical and surgical capabilities General diagnostic resources Full-service veterinary facilities Boarding facilities The practice maintains a feline-friendly approach and places a strong emphasis on relationship-based medicine, teamwork, professional development, and collaboration. For a Lead Veterinarian, the established team structure provides an excellent platform to influence medical standards, mentor colleagues, develop support staff, and contribute to the continued success of the practice. Responsibilities Serve as the medical leader of the veterinary practice. Oversee the medical care and clinical standards provided to patients. Maintain and promote consistently high standards of veterinary medicine. Manage a varied clinical caseload alongside leadership responsibilities. Perform medical appointments and surgical procedures according to experience. Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, support staff, and practice management. Partner with practice leadership to support medical quality and operational performance. Assist the Practice Manager with veterinary staffing and scheduling to support practice goals. Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to veterinary colleagues. Encourage the continued professional development of support team members. Help create a positive, collaborative, and accountable clinical culture. Support effective communication across the veterinary team. Build strong relationships with clients and the surrounding community. Serve as the veterinarian of record for required hospital permits and licenses. Utilize ultrasound and other diagnostic resources where clinically appropriate. Maintain accurate and timely medical records. Participate in continuing education and leadership development. Help identify opportunities to improve clinical services, workflows, and patient care. Candidate Profile Candidates should hold a DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school, or have successfully completed the appropriate ECFVG or PAVE veterinary equivalency pathway. Applicants should possess, or be eligible to obtain, an active veterinary license in Georgia. Previous veterinary leadership experience is welcomed but not essential. The practice is open to both experienced veterinary leaders and clinicians who are ready to develop into their first formal leadership position. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgement, communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to build positive working relationships with veterinarians and support staff. The successful candidate should enjoy mentoring others and be comfortable balancing clinical responsibilities with medical leadership and practice development. An interest in companion animal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, feline medicine, or pocket pet medicine would complement the existing caseload.
