Job Description - Registered Pharmacy Technician - Evening Shift - Includes Weekend Hours - Southampton Hospital (2603345) Registered Pharmacy Technician - Evening Shift - Includes Weekend Hours - Southampton Hospital POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Pharmacy Technician provides assistance to the Pharmacist regarding all aspects of routine and emergency drug acquisition, disposition, handling, storage, accountability, and administration, provides inventory replenishment to selected Article 28 sites which may include driving medications to these sites, and a ssists in training and supervision of departmental personnel. JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for stock control in all areas of the pharmacy . Driving medications to other Article 28 sites as needed . Restock intravenous solutions in IV Room when needed . Responsible for ordering pharmaceuticals and supplies as needed . Thoroughly checks expiration dates of drugs in all areas of the pharmacy. Shows competency in preparing LVP, PB, and TPN solutions under the supervision of the Pharmacist . Completes departmental / unit inspections in a timely manner . Shows competency in controlled substance procedures (C-2 Safe) . Assists in training of new personnel . Demonstrates understanding of the institution's pharmaceutical waste program . Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma Current valid NY State Registered Pharmacy Technician license and registration Current valid Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health career Association (NHA) Pharmacy Technician certification At least 1 year of previous related experience Ability to prioritize Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to assign and oversee tasks performed by Volunteers Valid NY State Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Prolonged standing/walking. Occasional lifting of supplies/equipment (up to 50lbs.) As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs. Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment.
