Job Title: Scanning Clerk

Job Summary:
The Scanning Clerk is responsible for accurately scanning, indexing, and filing laboratory results into the electronic medical record (EMR) system. This position ensures that all documents are processed promptly, correctly assigned to the appropriate patient record, and maintained in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scan paper laboratory results into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Verify patient information to ensure documents are filed in the correct medical record.
• Index and categorize scanned documents accurately.
• Review scanned images for clarity, completeness, and legibility.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Organize and prepare documents for scanning, including removing staples and repairing damaged pages when necessary.
• Report scanning errors or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with document retrieval and other clerical duties as assigned.
• Maintain an organized and efficient work area.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous clerical, medical records, or scanning experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with office equipment, including scanners.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer and scanner.
