Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience required License: Current and valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide) Must-Have: Must be able to sustain being on your feet for 80% of the shift. MOAB certification is required; if the traveler does not already have it, they will receive the training during their first week. Must be able to pass the facility background check. Must work 2 out of 3 of the holiday bundles (Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day). No locals within a 100-mile radius accepted. COVID vaccine is optional. Flu vaccine is required with medical or religious exemptions only. Description: This role involves working within a correctional setting. The nurse will cover the Addictions Medicine department primarily. The department manages Suboxone, detox medication administration, Suboxone inductions, and Methadone medication pass. The nurse will be responsible for assessments and treatments of patients undergoing substance withdrawal processes. The role includes providing assessment and monitoring of patients during the induction process. Day shift staff are expected to complete 2 detox rounds daily, with a round lasting approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes each. Night shift staff are expected to do 1 detox round and 1 Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) round, lasting approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes respectively. The maximum ratio for detox is 1:50, but it typically operates around 1:40. The ratio for the Suboxone pass is 1:50 and for Methadone med pass, it is 1:70. Experience in correctional nursing is preferred, but candidates with a minimum of 2 years in a busy medical-surgical setting may be considered. Candidates without correctional experience but with significant experience in emergency departments will also be screened for eligibility. The role may require floating between Detox, Med/Intake, and Behavioral Health areas. This position may also involve working with various patient diagnoses, including opioid and alcohol use disorders, and poly-substance use. Travelers must commit to completing required training modules and pass any relevant evaluations. Candidates who do not meet experience and certification requirements may be screened from consideration.
