Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. These 2nd and 3rd shift positions require self-motivated individuals willing to work safely in a team based system. They need to have the ability to schedule their work, prioritize their work load, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Good troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis skills are required to make proper repairs. Preventive and predictive skills are required to keep equipment running safe and efficient. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. A desire for continuous improvement of technical skills and quality workmanship are required to meet our customers increasing demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical duties to keep machines, equipment, and facility in repair.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance functions for a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Report irregularities, maintenance needs, and quality problems to Supervisor and Crew Leader.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Crew Leader in a safe manner, according to all relevant codes.

Qualifications

The qualified candidates will have knowledge in the following areas:

• AC/DC wiring methods
• AC/DC drives/motors
• PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R, Beckhoff)
• Touchscreens
• Mechanical systems (bearing, alignment, chains, belts)
• Pneumatics and hydraulics
• Design and fabrication
• Preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery
• Mill and lathe experience is a plus
• Must take a Maintenance Aptitude test

• Strong oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on understanding verbal instructions, written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
• Ability to plan work - be able to project the material, tools, and the safest and most efficient means to complete a task.
• Ability to control multiple work assignments and tasks with the ability to identify the most important and how that will impact what needs to be completed first.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to be an effective team member when working with others.
• Present yourself and the department in a professional manner for all internal and external customers while providing outstanding customer service.
• Ability to give full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand what is being said, asking questions when appropriate and not interrupting.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense, combine pieces of information to form a general rule or conclusion and sometimes, find relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
