Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer Opportunity in East Hartford!

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, regulated environment. This role will focus on executing quality systems, managing nonconformances, and leading continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with cross-functional manufacturing teams. You will play a key role in ensuring product quality, driving root cause investigations, and supporting standardized processes across the shop floor.

Responsibilities include:

• Executing First Article Inspections (FAI) to ensure product conformity.
• Supporting manufacturing operations by adhering to established quality processes.
• Leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and facilitating problem resolution teams.
• Managing nonconformance processes, including documentation, corrective action tracking, and closure.
• Reviewing process plans and technical data to ensure compliance with standard work.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving turnaround time, and lowering cost.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and customer support teams.

Essential skills include:

• Quality engineering expertise with experience in ISO 9001.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and RCCA.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and ISO regulations.
• Strong data analysis skills.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

• Experience with ISO/AS9100 or AS9110 quality standards.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Auditor certification.
• Background in aerospace manufacturing or military aviation maintenance.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License is a plus.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills.

Work environment:

This position operates within an aerospace manufacturing shop floor supporting highly regulated production operations. It is a union environment where Quality Engineers are responsible for inspection, analysis, and oversight, but do not engage in physical or hands-on work. You will work in a highly collaborative setting, partnering with operations, engineering, and quality teams in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. There is a strong emphasis on quality, turnaround time, and continuous improvement. The environment consists of structured yet evolving processes, allowing candidates to work within standardized procedures while also contributing to their improvement and maturation.

Job type and location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Hartford, CT.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $56.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
