Per Diem Bus Driver

Student Transportation Driver

This position is responsible for the transport of students, trustees, etc. in a safe and pleasant manner. This person must be available for call-ins. This position has been evaluated for compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is subject to premium pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a payroll week. Salary/Rate: $20 per hour

Requirements:

• High school diploma
• Prior driver experience preferred
• Must have a clean NYS Driver's License, CDL-C w/Passenger endorsement required, obtained for at least one year
• Must have a cell phone and be able to read maps, navigate, and work a flexible schedule

Essential Functions:

• With or without reasonable accommodations, the incumbent must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
• Must work independently
• Be able to maintain a regular and prompt attendance
• Must be diverse in the acceptability of all cultures
• Other essential functions may be required

Responsibilities:

• Operate vehicles such as vans and the University bus in a safe manner
• Order parts for shop
• Clean University vehicles
• Monitor and maintain passenger safety on bus and University vehicles
• Maintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities and associated equipment and supplies including, but not limited to, obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information pertaining to any hazards associated with their work environment
• Safety: Participate in safety training and comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocols
• Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned

Physical Environment: Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. Stairs and uneven surfaces may be present; Artificial li????s, etc. may or may not be available. The position may require the incumbent to walk outdoors in all types of weather to other buildings or offices located on the campus: The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.
