GTS Laboratory Materials Technician

Job Overview Position Title: GTS Laboratory Materials Technician Location: Coraopolis, PA (only residents of Coraopolis and nearby cities may apply) Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests of materials under the direction of the Laboratory Manager. Test materials including soil, concrete, aggregate, geosynthetics, and other relevant materials. General Responsibilities Process, prepare, and test samples for geotechnical testing. Maintain safety guidelines, sample collection records, location data, laboratory documentation, and logbooks. Communicate effectively with the laboratory manager, team members, and clients. Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results. Support process improvements. Keep the work area clean and organized. Assist in managing sample inventory, archival, and disposal. Perform other duties as required. Teamwork and Communication in Laboratory Operations Collaborate with laboratory teams, sharing responsibilities and maintaining a cooperative environment. Follow instructions from management and colleagues, adapting to directions while remaining flexible. Provide and receive guidance among peers to ensure clarity and adherence to procedures. Ask questions and seek clarification when needed for accuracy. Offer instruction or assistance to teammates to promote knowledge sharing and cross‑training. Maintain open and respectful communication, fostering a culture centered on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Requirements Computer proficiency for data entry and report preparation. Teamwork skills and a clean, organized laboratory environment compliant with QA/QC and accreditation requirements. Assist with other laboratory functions as necessary. Lift more than 50 pounds and be able to work off shifts and overtime. Read and understand test instructions accurately. Apply basic math, calculator, and computer skills. Physical Requirements Lift, move, push, and pull 30–50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance. Kneel and squat occasionally. Walk and stand for long periods of time. Education and Experience H.S. Diploma or GED (preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience in construction testing or inspection of concrete, soil, asphalt, or masonry materials. Applicable ACI/ICC certifications are highly desired. Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
