Patient Care Associate: C7 (Pediatrics), 36 hrs/week, 7pm-7:30am

Department/Unit: General Pediatrics - C7 | Work Shift: Night (United States of America) | Salary Range: $43,599.00 - $56,679.00 The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for providing compassionate patient care and assistance across the acute care setting. Responsibilities Collect pertinent patient data, including vital signs, height and weight, food and fluid intake and output Provide personal care to patients, such as bathing, oral care, skin care, grooming, dressing, and toileting Assist patients with eating, hydration, and ambulation while incorporating safe patient handling techniques Perform point‑of‑care testing (e.g., whole blood glucose) and basic technical procedures such as blood draw and electrocardiography Turn, position, mobilize patients and provide activity companionship for those requiring observation Collaborate with Materiel Coordinators to ensure availability of supplies and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment Document all care activities and report abnormal findings to the RN and patient care team Participate in care planning, nursing reports, and care coordination meetings Promote patient and family participation in decision‑making and keep them informed using standardized techniques Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Basic knowledge of medical terminology (preferred) Six months related experience in a health‑care setting, completion of a certified nurse assistant course, or experience as a paramedic or emergency technician (desired) Honest, punctual, and adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct Effective communication skills with patients, families, employees, and others Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands for various functions, and occasionally sit, kneel, or crouch Albany Med Health System is an equal‑opportunity employer.
