Senior Scientist, R&D Assay Development
Natera
Natera seeks a Senior Scientist for its R&D Assay Development team in Austin, Texas. The role focuses on designing and validating laboratory tests for cell-free DNA diagnostics while leading junior scientists and collaborating across functions in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute verification and validation studies with cross-functional stakeholder coordination
- Lead integration testing of automated workflows with LIMS systems to ensure data integrity
- Conduct experimental work, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for assay performance issues
- Author and review standard operating procedures, study reports, and production transfer documents
- Train team members on new procedures and workflows; provide technical support to lab operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of assay development experience, or Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years
- Deep expertise in molecular biology and assay development through product development cycles
- Knowledge of high-throughput NGS workflows or genetic testing applications in clinical settings
- Experience with design control and regulated laboratory environments
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel and JMP
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
