Senior Maintenance TechnicianAt STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.The position of Senior Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, that provides technical expertise and oversees and participates in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of facility equipment in a validated cGMP environment. This equipment includes machinery, buildings, computer systems, control systems, safety and security systems (hereinafter referred to as Equipment). He/She is also responsible for multiple highly complex major projects and processes requiring innovative original solutions. Additionally, this position includes responsibility for maintaining shop tools, inventory, and keeping the department's CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) updated. The position must be proficient in the requirements of the Technician Maintenance and Project Technician positions and may be required to provide training to the technicians in these roles. The position shall support management including providing guidance to other maintenance staff and help promote a Lean team environment. This position will also be required to support after hours emergency response activities on an as needed basis. Depending on the modality in which this role operates (i.e. Gamma), this is a physical role – requiring strength and endurance.What You Will Do As a Senior Maintenance TechnicianProvide on-line maintenance and support. Troubleshoot new-to-production or unknown issues and quickly diagnose root cause of and correct recurring issues. When possible, put corrective measures in place to prevent recurrence of failures.Complete and update preventative maintenance system work orders for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual requirements, leaving equipment in better-than-found state.Participate, as assigned, in the investigation of production related problems with mechanisms or processes and assist in the introduction of new or modified equipment or productions into production. Learn new technologies to better support new-to-company products/processes.Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, and improper conditions to supervisor. As needed, assist with facilities maintenance, furniture moving, and set up for meetings.Operates lifts, tow motors, jacks, hoists, as needed.Assemble or modify fixtures, tooling, or equipment according to close tolerances (+/- 0.010") from engineering sketches.When necessary, set up, operate, and adjust production equipment to process materials for the assembly of new or existing products.Provide technical support for various audits using advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes (see Maintenance Skills Matrix, trained over 70%), i.e. swaging, resistance and laser welding, light-cure gluing, Autobagger setup and repair.Train peers on new equipment maintenance, safety procedures, and lead problem solving meeting.
