Associate Underwriter, Large Commercial Casualty Railroad

What You’ll Be Doing Pre‑underwrites, evaluates risk, and assesses completeness of the underwriting package before underwriter is required to review. Communicate directly with brokers to collect account and insured information necessary for risk analysis. Perform and apply knowledge of line‑of‑business specific product underwriting rules and/or guidelines for pre‑analysis support of submissions in preparation of further analysis for the quoting stage. Collaborate effectively with underwriters, brokers, and internal units within AXA XL to manage the status and workflow of multiple tasks and accounts. Communicate account status to ensure completion of outstanding subjectivities needed to execute policy issuance and premium collection as part of bound accounts. Develop initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, quotation, and binder packages of the risk. Calculate base rating and apply experience modifications as part of underwriting package for underwriter review. Manage the workflow of multiple tasks and maintain a detailed understanding of the status of various tasks owned by underwriters, brokers, and AXA XL internal network. Collaborate and correspond verbally and in written format with internal and external contacts across the country, keeping in mind differences in time zones, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations. What You Will Bring We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Analytical, negotiation, and sales/marketing skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent customer service focus is a must. Adept interpersonal skills to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups. Proven prioritization and time‑management skills with accurate results. Organizational, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Robust collaborative skills in a fast‑paced, team‑centric environment. Applicants for this role must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 64,200 – 112,400.
