Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician for a full-time opportunity based in Des Moines, Iowa. This position is designed for a highly skilled commercial or industrial HVAC technician with strong hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning complex HVAC systems.

The Senior HVAC Service Technician will service a diverse range of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including hot water systems, DX systems, chillers, cooling towers, VRV/VRF systems, VFDs, refrigeration equipment, fan systems, and low-voltage controls. This is a highly independent field-service role covering a regional territory. The technician will perform diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment start-ups, inspections, and commissioning while also providing technical guidance to customers and team members.

Key responsibilities include diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial and industrial HVAC systems; servicing hot water systems, DX systems, chillers, cooling towers, fan systems, and refrigeration equipment; diagnosing and servicing VRV/VRF systems and related equipment; troubleshooting VFDs and low-voltage HVAC controls; performing equipment inspections, start-ups, and commissioning; conducting scheduled preventative maintenance; diagnosing complex HVAC issues independently and determining appropriate corrective actions; performing refrigerant service and handling in accordance with EPA requirements; performing electrical diagnostics related to HVAC equipment and controls; supporting HVAC installation, maintenance, and system-service activities; providing technical training and support to customers and team members; maintaining accurate service records using company-provided laptop and mobile systems; identifying opportunities for additional services and customer solutions; traveling throughout the assigned regional service territory as required; and working independently while supporting the growth and technical capabilities of the service team.

The position is based in Des Moines, Iowa, with regional coverage that may include Dubuque, Waterloo, Burlington, Grinnell, eastern Iowa, western Illinois, and areas extending from Missouri to Minnesota. Travel is generally minimal, with overnight stays only when necessary. The first year may involve additional driving while establishing the assigned territory.

Requirements include minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience, commercial and/or industrial HVAC service experience, hands-on hot water system experience, hands-on DX system experience, hands-on chiller experience, VRV/VRF system experience, low-voltage HVAC controls experience, valid HVAC license, EPA certification, HVAC diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance experience, strong independent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, valid driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, ability to work in confined and elevated spaces, ability to travel throughout the assigned regional territory, strong communication and customer-service skills, Daikin equipment/manufacturer training preferred, VFD experience preferred, industrial refrigeration experience preferred, technical HVAC training or additional certifications preferred, and experience in large-scale commercial or industrial facilities preferred.
