Product Specialist, Commercial - New York, NY

Position Overview The Product Specialist, Commercial, is responsible for supporting the ongoing oversight of all commercial products offered by MetroPlusHealth. The Product Specialist, Commercial will support key analytical activities to support the Plan’s strategic position. This position will be assisted with the full spectrum of product strategy & operations, remaining proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement including Enrollment Processes. This role will ensure members’ complaints are handled quickly while identifying root cause and will work to correct. Scope of Role & Responsibilities Support end-to-end product operations to help ensure products meet member needs and contribute to positive customer experience. Assist with monitoring plan and vendor operations for commercial lines of business to ensure activities align with established goals and requirements. Partner with stakeholders at key regulatory agencies including the Department of Financial Services and NYSoH to ensure successful and timely completion of regulatory requirements including the annual filings and subsequent objection revisions to the SERFF portal. Maintain and update operational reports to track performance and identify issues. Work with business partners and IT teams to gather, document, and clarify business requirements for new processes or system updates. Assist operational departments with developing workflows, issue logs, and project documentation to meet project needs. Contribute to problem-solving efforts by gathering information, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting initiatives that address strategic, regulatory, and customer experience goals. Maintain a strong customer-focused mindset when supporting operational activities to help ensure a seamless experience. Help research and share best operational practices and collaborate with teams such as benefits administration, marketing, communications, and customer experience to support process improvements. Be a problem solver driving initiatives with an aptitude of aligning the needs of multiple stakeholders to meet strategic, regulatory, quality, and customer satisfaction goals. Maintain customer focus throughout Plan operations to ensure seamless & excellent customer experience. Assist with competitive analysis and forecasting activities to inform product design and support marketing and communications strategies. Provide support on additional projects and tasks assigned. Required Education, Training & Professional Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, the sciences, humanities, public health/policy required. Minimum of 4 years’ experience at a Health Plan offering commercial insurance in product management, compliance, regulatory, or operational role. Strong knowledge & understanding of the health insurance industry including underwriting rules & requirements, rate-setting, Flexible Spending Accounts, Labor Service Agreements, Health Savings Accounts, NYC Employee Assistance Programs, etc. Experience working in cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to develop workflows, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate understanding & acceptance of the MetroPlusHealth Mission, Vision, & Values Professional Competencies Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement & implement solutions. Excellent analytical skills demonstrated by an ability to use actionable data to support decision-making, and to proactively identify opportunities.
