Position Summary: To provide direct supervision of the nurse care managers (NCMs), working directly with the medical director and director of clinical operations to implement clinical policies and workflows, support staff, and help organize and supervise ongoing training of nurses and medical assistants. Provide direct patient care via nurse care manager coverage for the care teams.

Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: Supervises nurse care managers. Reports to the Medical Director.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide and model high-quality, culturally attuned direct patient care, maintaining and applying current knowledge in nursing practice and standards.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and coaching for nurse care managers (NCMs) and other medical support staff. Act as float NCM, rotating though care teams as needed.
• Implement and model standards of care and our Indigenous Knowledge Informed System of Care under the direction of the medical director.
• Assist medical leadership in ensuring that the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards are followed. Ensure staff functions within safety, infection control, emergency and equipment guidelines.
• Facilitate communication and implementation of new initiatives between leadership and medical support staff. Leads NCM and nursing/MA meetings.
• Complete timesheets, leave requests, annual evaluations, and employee development for the nurse care manager team and supports the NCM team in completing these tasks for the medical support team.
• Lead and participate in recruitment, orientation, and staff retention activities for NCMs and medical support staff. Acts as the point of contact for Workforce Development with nursing and MA learners.
• Facilitate and model effective interdisciplinary collaboration related to patient (relative) care and team operations. Works with operations team on staff scheduling and clinical workflow; and purchasing team on medical supplies and equipment.
• Oversee and actively participate in internal quality improvement, including but not limited to ensuring incident reports are completed, following up on incident reports and customer service issues. Works with medical leadership to enact system improvements.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required: Minimum of Bachelors in nursing, prior experience in managerial role in a clinical setting, personnel management experience.

Work Environment: SIHB operates on a 4x10 (4 days per week, 10 hours per day) work schedule with occasional extra hours for events Saturday clinic and to meet deadlines.
