Procurement Specialist

Procurement Specialist (Contract to Hire) We are hiring a Procurement Specialist for a non-profit organization in Houston, TX. This is an immediate, on-site, 4- to 6-month contract with the potential for permanent conversion. The Details Compensation: Starting at $26.51/hour (Permanent conversion salary is based on verifiable experience). Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Strict schedule, 1-hour lunch). Location: On-site in Houston, TX 77054 (Free parking provided). Attire: Business (Mon-Thu), Business Casual (Fri). What You Will Do Manage all aspects of purchasing and related activities in a fast-paced environment. Navigate high-volume purchasing peaks during the summer months (June through August) to replace furniture and prepare facilities for the upcoming year. Utilize the already-implemented Microix system to attach and process incoming invoices. Collaborate regularly with key internal stakeholders, including the warehousing team, maintenance team, and operations support managers. Procure goods in accordance with approved policies, negotiate adjustments, and ensure small and minority businesses are utilized. Provide guidance on agency Request for Proposals (RFPs) and analyze price proposals to determine reasonable pricing. What You Must Have Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance is strictly required to qualify for the role. Experience: At least 3 years of verifiable procurement or purchasing experience is strictly required. Candidates with alternative job titles, such as Sourcing Specialist or Purchasing Administrator, are welcome to apply as long as the core qualifications are met. Industry Background: Non-profit experience is not required; candidates with backgrounds in logistics and supply chain will be strongly considered. Compliance Knowledge: A baseline, general understanding of GAAP and OMB regulations is acceptable; you do not need to be an expert on day one. Software: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) is required. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and reach overhead/to the floor in a standard office setting. Reliable transportation is required.
