Duties

Help

• Serves as the command's principal technical authority and Senior Intelligence Specialist for Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Cryptologic Support Element (CSE) Chief.
• Provides authoritative direction and expert guidance on Special Operations Forces (SOF) SIGINT capabilities, concepts of operation, and policy.
• Serves as the command's recognized authority and subject matter expert on all SIGINT activities.
• Serves as the technical leader and senior SOF SIGINT advisor to the Commander SOCSOUTH for matters in Latin America
• Formulates and implements innovative solutions to resolve major regional analysis and collection gaps, enhancing analytic collaboration across national agencies and SOF elements.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully pass a Counterintelligence scope polygraph examination as required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a T5 (or equivalent) investigation.
• Temporary Duty (TDY) travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, is required up to 10% of the time and may be on extremely short notice.
• Frequent extended hours under high-pressure conditions and involve high-profile, high-risk responsibilities with strategic implications and is subject to short notice recall to duty during non-duty hours for crisis action and contingency deployments.
• Language proficiency is desired in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Chinese-Mandarin to provide authoritative intelligence expertise to forward support locations and partner nations throughout the USSOUTHCOM AOR.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience to the next lower grade (GG/GS-12) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Managing Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) production; 2) Utilizing analytic techniques, including social network exploitation; AND 3) Implementing changes to SIGINT posture and resource allocation.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
