Senior Accountant (General Ledger & Accounts Payable)

My client is seeking a Senior Accountant with a solid General Ledger foundation and strong Accounts Payable experience to support month-end close, oversee AP operations, and drive process improvements. This role will partner closely with accounting leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient workflows, and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Lead day-to-day Accounts Payable operations, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, and payment execution
• Review purchase requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy and compliance
• Manage employee expense reimbursement workflows
• Partner with leadership on cash flow planning and payment timing
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and AP functions
• Analyze large data sets and prepare ad hoc reporting
• Support internal controls, compliance, and accounting best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (other degrees considered)
• 5+ years of accounting experience with strong General Ledger and Accounts Payable exposure
• Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
• Proven ability to improve processes and drive efficiencies
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including:
• Pivot Tables
• VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Complex formulas and data analysis
• Experience working with large volumes of data
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Workday experience highly preferred

Preferred Background

• Experience in a high-volume transaction environment
• Strong understanding of accounting controls and AP processes
• Ability to balance daily accounting responsibilities with continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
