Director of Business Development – Rail & Transit Location: Washington, DC About the Opportunity We are currently representing a leading engineering consultancy in the search for a Director of Business Development – Rail & Transit to support the continued growth and expansion of its national Railroad & Transit practice. This is a senior-level, client-facing position for an established business development professional with a strong background in the rail and transit engineering market . The successful candidate will play a key role in developing strategic relationships, identifying new opportunities, leading capture strategies, and driving sustainable revenue growth. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute strategic business development plans to support growth across the Railroad & Transit market. Build and maintain strong relationships with transit agencies, rail organizations, clients, industry partners and teaming firms . Identify, qualify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the company's strategic objectives. Lead capture strategies, including client positioning, teaming, opportunity planning and win strategies . Work closely with technical and marketing teams to develop compelling proposals, presentations and fee strategies. Monitor market trends, infrastructure investment, funding programs and upcoming procurement opportunities. Support contract negotiations, partnership development and other commercial activities. Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events and client engagements.
