Financial Planning and Grants Analyst – Media Development Investment Fund Join to apply for the Financial Planning and Grants Analyst role at the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF). This full‑time position will be based in MDIF’s New York City office. As the primary driver of MDIF’s financial planning and reporting, you will create and manage annual operating budgets, program grant budgets and periodic forecasts, produce variance reports and analyses, and communicate financial results to management, funders and the Board of Directors. You will report to the CFO and collaborate across the global organization. Duties Work with program and regional staff to develop budgets and forecasts for all programs, grants, departments, and offices globally. Oversee financial reporting for all departments, regions and grants and ensure compliance with grant agreements. Communicate financial matters to departments and regional staff, including budgeting, allocations and reporting. Maintain restricted and unrestricted grant budgets and reconciliation to actual report templates and balances. Monitor and maintain all active grants and coding (fund, activity, etc.). Submit Budget‑to‑Actual reports to the Chief Program Officer and program directors quarterly or as needed. Assist regional offices with the allocation of funds toward fixed costs and maintain accurate allocation percentages. Provide analysis of grant coverage and support proposal drafting. Review and approve coding for contracts and payment requests related to restricted grants. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures. Maintain Grants Receivable schedule and update unrestricted and temporarily restricted net asset schedules monthly. Maintain salary allocation spreadsheet. Coordinate with the development team to reconcile grant revenues to meet donor requirements and deadlines. Provide assessment of financial implications for proposals and new projects. Review regional offices’ expense and advance requests. Manage annual grant audits and support statutory audits (e.g., preparing financial reports for auditors, reviewing audit drafts). Assist with coordination of cash flow projections and reporting. Perform ad‑hoc financial modeling and reporting requests. Contribute to cross‑disciplinary projects and initiatives and drive continuous improvements in financial processes, systems, tools and documentation. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related professional training in grant reporting. Experience At least three years of progressively responsible work experience, preferably in FP&A or grants administration. Experience with accounting, financial planning and grants‑management software and general ledger analysis. Related Skills and Knowledge Excellent financial analysis, written and verbal communication skills in English. Advanced experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) or Corporate Performance Management (CPM) tools (e.g., Power Pivot, Power BI, Tableau, DataRails, Prophix, Solver, Tagetik, TM1, EssBase) preferred. Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment. Experience in a complex multi‑entity, multi‑national corporation or not‑for‑profit preferred.
