Speech Language Pathologist

Position Type: Special Education/ Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 5/22/2026 Location: District Wide Date Available: 08/11/2026 The Raymore-Peculiar School District is looking for a compassionate, qualified Speech-Language Pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year to help students improve their communication skills and succeed in school. The qualified candidate should hold aMissouri Teaching Certification - Speech Language Pathology orMissouri License from Board of Healing Arts. Key Responsibilities Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment. Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals, outside agencies, SLPA interns, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines. Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff. Counsels students regarding communication disorder for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues. Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements. Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements. Interprets medical reports within the scope of Speech-Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate. Maintains manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, evaluation reports, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance. Observes students in a variety of educational settings (e.g. therapy room, cafeteria, playgrounds, classroom, media center, etc.) for the purpose of documenting progress and providing a safe and positive learning environment. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, parent-teacher conferences, professional association activities, professional development for staff, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information. Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, teaching materials, progress reports, memo, treatment plans to align with curriculum, Medicaid billings, compliance paperwork, IEP goals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. Provides speech and language therapy to students using a continuum of service delivery options (e.g. direct intervention, indirect therapy, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success. Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' needs. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. parents, teachers, staff, students, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or referral as appropriate. Troubleshoots problems with Augmentative Communication devices for the purpose of ensuring that equipment is in proper working order and/or providing alternative strategies. Competitive Salary and Benefits Package Salary schedule placement acknowledging highest level of education and ALL years of previousexperience as allowed by the salary schedule Speech Language Pathologists with a Master's Degree are placed on Grade G of the above salary schedule.
