CNC Lathe Machine Operator - Machine Shop

Location: Springfield, OH
Pay: $18.00/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift - 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced CNC Lathe Machine Operator for a local machine shop. This position requires someone confident operating very large industrial lathes and capable of handling both machine operation and setup responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced machining environment with tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

Operate large CNC lathe machines for production
Perform setups and programming for shop lathes
Run machines efficiently when not performing setups
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and measurements for production
Use dial calipers, micrometers, and monitoring tools accurately
Inspect parts to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
Maintain consistent production and meet output goals
Follow all safety and shop procedures

Requirements

Experience operating CNC lathes, including large-scale machines
Proficiency in lathe programming and setup
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Strong math skills with the ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances
Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, etc.)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance
Comfortable working around large equipment and machinery
