POSITION: Cook, Class IV

Middle School (4.5 hours - 8:45 am - 1:15 pm)

REPORTS TO: Food Service Director and Manager


JOB FUNCTION: To prepare, cook and serve a variety of foods so that students receive attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma
2. One year of experience in school cafeteria
3. Must have ServSafe Manager Certificate or pass exam before beginning position.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Products and other office equipment or software Proficiency on the District administered test

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to keep work organized and carry out duties effectively under pressure.
2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with courtesy and respect.
3. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school district employees.
4. Ability to interact with others in the work environment, including the ability to adapt to new or different conditions.
5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with limited supervision.
6. Ability to be dependable, including good habits in attendance and punctuality
7. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and other confidential information.
8. Perform physical requirements which may include:
9. Lifting to 60 lbs
10. Frequent standing
11. The ability to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities is required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare, batch cook and serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality of foods prepared.
2. Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as slicer, combi oven, convection oven, rotisserie oven, tilt skillet, steamer and dishwasher as required.
3. Follow standards of food safety in preparing, serving, and storing food. Follows food preparation directions and HACCP regarding time and temperature.
4. Complete appropriate portion of daily production record recording counts and temperatures.
5. Serves food, refills station or operates Point-Of-Service system.
6. Assemble items and assure that serving lines are properly stocked with adequate food.
7. Assist other Food Service personnel with cooking and baking activities, work as a team.
8. Assist in storing unused food and supplies to assure compliance with health and sanitation standards; dispose of unusable leftovers and record on production record.
9. Maintain work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition.
10. Notify manager of needed supplies.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or manager as normally attributed to the position.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 work days; Hourly wage per contract


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of the School District's evaluation system of support service personnel.
