Director of Emergency Services - Join a Strong Clinical Team

Director Of Emergency Services

Director of Emergency Services leads the emergency department, overseeing patient care, staff, and operational efficiency. This leadership role blends clinical excellence with strategic management to improve outcomes for the community. The director guides a dedicated team, implements process improvements, and ensures regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and protocols for emergency department operations.
  • Lead and mentor the ED clinical team, fostering professional growth.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align ED goals with organizational mission.
  • Analyze performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation.
  • Oversee staffing schedules and shift coverage.
  • Coordinate with other departments for integrated patient care.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the ED in multidisciplinary committees.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school and licensed by the NC Board of Nursing (RN license required).
  • BSN degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hospital emergency department experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to hospital and ED operations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to assist with shifts, including on-call or extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to work days (most likely 8a-4:30p) with occasional off-hour requirements.
  • Willingness to participate in virtual and onsite interviews.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with departmental process improvements and organizational projects.
  • Background in fiscal oversight and budget management.
  • Proven ability to develop staff training and clinical growth programs.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Relevant advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, ATLS) a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership in hospital emergency departments for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and innovations in emergency nursing.
