Technician, Laboratory Phlebotomy

Job Description Summary Hours & Location: Full time: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:30pm 1907 S Alexander St, Plant City, FL We are looking for a new team member who is positive, energetic, well-organized, has the ability to multi-task, and think outside of the box. The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing and collecting blood from patients and preparing the samples for testing. Verifies the patient's records, enters data into the system, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Processes specimens and demonstrates proper handling of samples. Instructs patients on Coumadin and performs limited waived testing. Maintains sample integrity by identification and labeling (2 identifiers). Maintains work area, supplies, and cleanliness. How Will You Make An Impact & Requirements Responsibilities Performs painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic Identifies patient following protocol. Prepares samples for processing w/correct label and bar code and inspects vials Reconciles outstanding sample report at day’s end. Observe safety procedures and sample prep. Support and guide in day-to-day activities. Clean up old orders and combine orders in Copia, know which tests are duplicates and which are necessary for measures. Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Phlebotomy certification or M.A. certification or certificate from a phlebotomy program. 2+ years of experience in Lab preferred Understand labeling/ID protocol, and knowledge of common lab tests, sample types, and vacutainers. Understand Biohazard, OSHA safety regulations for medical offices, and Universal precautions. Knowledge of test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Compensation Range $17.10 to $25.65 The anticipated base salary range represents the Company's good-faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting.
