The Role

Boston Legacy FC is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to own the Club's budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role serves as the analytical engine behind the Club's business and sporting decisions, translating operating plans into financial models, tracking performance against them, and giving leadership a clear, timely view of where the Club stands and where it is headed.

This is a builder role for a hands-on FP&A leader who is as comfortable constructing a model from a blank workbook as they are presenting to an executive team. You will build the Club's planning cadence, reporting infrastructure, and financial business partnership model from the ground up, working closely with department heads across ticketing, partnerships, marketing, community, sporting, and operations to understand their businesses, pressure-test their plans, and hold them to their numbers. You will also serve as the Club's primary point of contact for league financial reporting and support the CFO on capital planning, board and ownership materials, and long-range strategy.

This role is based on-site on a hybrid schedule, with regular presence at both our Boston, MA and eventually our Brockton, MA locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the Club's annual budgeting process end to end, including timeline, templates, department-level submissions, consolidation, and executive review, in partnership with the CFO.
• Build and maintain the Club's operating forecast, including rolling monthly reforecasts, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and a multi-year long-range plan.
• Produce monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the executive team, ownership, and the board, including variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and clear commentary on drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Serve as finance business partner to department leaders across ticketing, partnerships, marketing, community and foundation, sporting, and operations, helping them build their plans, understand their results, and make sound resource decisions.
• Partner with Sporting leadership and the General Manager on player and staff compensation modeling, salary cap and roster budget tracking, and NWSL roster and allocation compliance from a financial perspective.
• Model the financial impact of new revenue initiatives, partnerships, ticketing strategies, capital projects, and organizational changes, and present recommendations to leadership.
• Own league financial reporting and audit requests to the NWSL, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
• Design and implement the Club's planning and reporting infrastructure, including the chart of accounts structure for management reporting, department cost centers, forecasting models, and any planning tools or systems adopted by the Club.
• Partner with Accounting on month-end close, accrual review, and revenue recognition for ticketing, sponsorship, and merchandise to ensure reported actuals are reliable and aligned to the budget structure.
• Track headcount, compensation, and hiring plans in partnership with the People Operations team, and maintain the Club's headcount forecast.
• Support the CFO on ownership and board materials, capital planning, cash flow forecasting, and ad hoc strategic analysis.
• Continuously improve financial processes, controls, and reporting standards as the Club scales, and stay current on FP&A best practices across the NWSL and professional sports.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive finance experience with a substantial portion in FP&A, including hands-on ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting; experience in professional sports, live entertainment, media, or a similarly seasonal, event-driven business is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience building financial models, forecasts, and reporting packages from scratch in a start-up or fast-growing environment, rather than inheriting an established function.
• Expert-level Excel and financial modeling skills, with strong working knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to connect operating drivers to P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow outcomes.
• Experience with ERP and planning tools (for example, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Adaptive, Anaplan, or similar) and comfort standing up or improving reporting systems.
• Proven ability to serve as a trusted business partner to non-finance leaders, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable guidance.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy, paired with the judgment to prioritize and deliver on tight timelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing materials for executive teams, boards, or ownership groups.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus.
• A builder's mindset - comfortable creating structures, processes, and tools from the ground up in a start-up environment, and driving consistent results.
• Willingness and ability to work on-site on a hybrid schedule across the Club's Boston and Brockton, MA locations, attend home matches and select events, and work evenings and weekends as the schedule requires.
• Must be able to successfully complete a Boston Legacy FC background check as well as a separate background check as required by the NWSL.

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 150,000 USD per year (Boston Office)
