Food Service Assistant, Per Diem

Job Summary

Summary Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service environments. Does this position require Patient Care? No

Essential Functions

• Performs preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables.
• Weighs and measures ingredients.
• Wraps, date-labels, and stores food items.
• Cleans and organizes work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station.
• Follows established recipes to prepare menu items.
• Follows guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
• Serves customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner.
• Provides customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability, and pricing.
• Escalates customer concerns and complaints to management.
• Complies with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes

Licenses and Credentials Experience experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of role 2-3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements.
• Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
• Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
