The Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) APP Fellowship at Baptist Health South Florida's Miami Cancer Institute is a comprehensive one-year training program designed to equip advanced practice providers (APPs), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the field of hematology and oncology. Our program is the first to be nationally certified with Distinction in Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant. This fellowship offers a unique blend of clinical experience, didactic education, and research opportunities, focusing on the management of hematologic malignancies and the intricacies of bone marrow transplantation. Fellows will engage in multidisciplinary care, collaborating with a team of experts to provide high-quality patient-centered care while gaining exposure to cutting-edge therapies and innovative treatment protocols. Our program is committed to fostering the next generation of leaders in malignant hematology and bone marrow transplantation, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the evolving challenges of this dynamic field. Our fellows are trained alongside Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who are experts in their field as well as by our physician scientists. Throughout the one-year fellowship, participants will immerse themselves in a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes both clinical and research components. Fellows will rotate through various specialized services, gaining hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of hematologic disorders, including Leukemias, Lymphomas, and Multiple Myeloma. They will also learn about the latest advancements in cellular therapies, such as CAR-T cell therapy and stem cell transplantation techniques. In addition to clinical training, fellows will have the opportunity to engage in scholarly activities, including conducting research projects, presenting at national conferences, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. This multifaceted approach not only enhances clinical competencies but also fosters a culture of inquiry and innovation, preparing fellows to become influential practitioners and educators in the field of malignant hematology and bone marry transplantation.

Qualifications

Degrees: Masters. Licenses & Certifications: NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. BLS Certification ANCC or AANP certification DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) License NPI (National Provider Identifier) registration Additional Qualifications: Advanced practice providers (APP) fellows must have successfully graduated from an accredited institution with a master graduate degree or higher and maintain/be compliant with certifications & licensures throughout their time at BHSF. APP Fellows must be compliant with state requirements for CEU's and Licensure Renewal (Including: Medical Errors, HIV/AIDS & Domestic violence done on initial Certification). Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer knowledge. CITI certification within the first (3) months of the Fellowship program.
