Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care services to cardiac and neurosurgical patients in the CVICU, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert nursing interventions and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions promptly and accurately to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Manage complex cardiac, neuro, and post-operative patients, including those on ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures such as CRRT, balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz, and neuro interventions, adhering to clinical protocols.
• Document patient care accurately within the Meditech system and communicate effectively during bedside shift reports.
• Float to emergency departments or PCUs as needed, maintaining flexibility and readiness for diverse clinical environments.
• Demonstrate proficiency in telemetry reading and manage patients with specialized procedures like head and neck flap care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with at least 36 months of nursing experience, including one year in ICU settings.
• Possess recent ICU experience, preferably within a CVICU or Neuro ICU, with competence in ventilator management and telemetry interpretation.
• Achieve certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale; TNCC and advanced certifications preferred.
• Demonstrate knowledge of advanced cardiovascular and neuro procedures, including EVDs, hypothermia protocols, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Have ability to care for multiple ICU patients simultaneously and adapt to high-acuity environments.
