Backend Engineer

To support the development of an advanced network simulation platform, the long-term contract Backend Engineer will build and maintain backend services, design scalable RESTful APIs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while working remotely in the EST time zone. Key responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services for orchestrating virtualized network nodes and simulation environments using technologies like QEMU and libvirt Design and build scalable RESTful APIs for user interaction with complex network topologies Support network automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows, optimizing platform performance and reliability Required qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of backend software development experience Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go, with expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming and virtualization technologies such as QEMU, libvirt, and Docker Familiarity with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and switching Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
