This position will be based from the Albemarle office in Charlotte, NC or Clear Lake, TX with a hybrid work schedule. What You Will Do Provide Occupational Safety & Industrial Hygiene support to existing operations to ensure sites understand existing requirements for local, state, federal laws or Albemarle policies and procedures. Support strategic and tactical industrial hygiene plans necessary to develop company policies, programs, and standards; meet company goals; and ensure regulatory compliance. Maintain awareness of emerging IH issues and interact with external agencies such as OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA, FM Global or other professional associations. Provide technical support to global locations for comprehensive exposure assessment and management program implementation. Apply scientific, exposure risk management, and engineering principles to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance activities. Identify needs and support chemical agent sampling and analytical method implementation and development including real‑time detection systems, exposure limit and hazard band development. Apply scientific, occupational hygiene regulatory and risk management skills across multiple countries and regions. Promote engineering control concepts and design for reducing exposure risks using practical implementation perspective and experience. Conduct site support visits to include IH hazard surveys, exposure assessments, sampling campaigns, analyze industrial hygiene data and make recommendations to identify, correct, control and prevent IH related hazards. Provide strategic and operational support to the Corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team across a range of initiatives, including leading or contributing to global safety programs, cross‑functional safety committees, and enterprise‑wide HSE improvement efforts. Actively engage with internal stakeholders to promote best practices, share learnings, and drive continuous improvement in safety culture and performance. What You Bring Required Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering/Science discipline or equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene environment. Certified Industrial Hygienist CIH by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). Preferred Master’s degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Safety or EHS related discipline from an accredited institution. Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Regulatory and/or Legal experience related to risk assessment and compliance (private, public, government or military). Strong project management skills and ability to set objectives and deliver results. Strong computer and database skills. Experience with a wide range of exposure risk assessment sampling methods and relevant analytical methods including real‑time instrumentation. Engineering control design and implementation experience. Able to lead, influence and inspire others. Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
