Job Description

This position involves delegating responsibilities to the Physical Therapist Assistant and Aides. The role is patient-focused, employing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• (20%) Evaluates the patient's function through formal and informal testing measures to assess skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• (20%) Develops a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's capacity to implement the prescribed treatment plan.
• (20%) Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates the plan of care as necessary to reflect changes in patient status. Co-signs verbal orders received by the physical therapist assistant as required.
• (20%) Creates a treatment schedule that specifies frequency and duration, which will be discussed with the patient, family, and/or caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff.
• (20%) Educates the patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding the pathology or condition, alternatives available to the patient, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through rest, exercise, modalities, and other necessary interventions.

Certification Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

State License Requirements

Active Michigan Physical Therapist License is required.
