Job Description Job Description Medication Technician (Med Tech) - Hickory Treatment Centers Department : Nursing Direct Report To : Director of Nursing Shift Schedule: Full-Time Days, Full-Time Evenings About the Role: The Med Tech is responsible for the medication passing of both female and male clients suffering from addictions and behavioral health issues. Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Med Tech is responsible for management, administration, and education of all client medication. Why Hickory Recovery? At least 2 years prior experience as a Medication Aide preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Ability to work as a member of a team. Professional appearance, aptitude, and attitude Impeccable ethics, integrity, and customer relations skills Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills Knowledge of “best practices” behavioral medicine treatment delivery and methodologies Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills Schedule flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED. Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Key Responsibilities: Set up and administer medications under supervision of a licensed nurse. Obtain vital signs including O2 and perform blood glucose sticks (reporting information to licensed nurse) Apply minor treatments after assessed by a licensed nurse. Medication administration documentation in the client’s record Apply topical medications and administer metered dose inhalers. Administer enema’s the direction of the licensed nurse. Obtain UDS and fecal matter specimens, test and document accordingly. Clean medication carts and ensure no loose medications or expired medications are present. Ensure medications are clearly labeled and tagged for reorder as needed.
