What you will do in this role:??

• The role of the Surgical Technician is to?assist?the OR team in the care of patients,?equipment,?and supplies.
• The Surgical Technician in Surgery provides care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.?
• The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments,?supplies,?and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.?
• The Surgical Technician understands the procedure being performed and?anticipates?the needs of the surgeon.?
• The Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.?
• When the Surgical Technician is in the second scrub role, they?assist?the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding?retractors?and manipulating the endoscopic camera.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)
• CORT preferred
• BLS required
• One to two years previous OR experience preferred.
