The Position: The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ability to diagnose, trouble shoot, and determine root cause of malfunctions. Responsible for repairs and facility maintenance. This includes electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools, material handling systems, and automated lubrication system by performing the following duties. Responsibilities WHAT YOU’LL DO Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Diagnose, trouble shoot, and test machines and equipment to determine root cause of malfunctions. Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem area. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts. Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems. Remove and replace worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system. Realign and adjust components such as spindles, clutches, ball screws. Locate damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, measure, cut, thread, and install new pipe. Start machines and equipment to test operation following repair. Repair broken parts. Set up and operate metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Ability to read and interpret schematics / blueprints. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other structures. Qualifications YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS) Employee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types. Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description. Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in use of all supplies. Employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level. Employee must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Employee must have a strong customer service orientation and ability to maintain a professional, friendly demeanor. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools. Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instruction. Aptitude to learn and retain new information. Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively in English. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Office and plant environment. Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking. Ability to see, walk, bend, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, carry, climb (including ladders), work overhead, push and pull. Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) multiple times daily in an 8-to-12-hour shift. Ability to maneuver large parts and assemblies (up to 180 pounds) by pushing, pulling, and flipping them into place. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
