As a member of the Software Development Engineering team, our Software Development Engineers participate in a cross-team environment for the delivery and maintenance of application systems. Responsible for programming, debugging, building, deploying, testing, and documentation of applications in development and production environments. Responsible for database design and system testing and documentation. This position provides technical, interpersonal, and administrative skills in performing day-to-day work.

Qualifications:

The Software Development Engineer II would have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field and at least 3 years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment.

The Software Development Engineer III would have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment

• Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) including unit and behavior test creation.

• Able to learn containerization technologies and orchestration tools.
• Able to learn RESTful and/or GraphQL API (Application Programming Interface) design and best practices.
• Able to learn Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Applies software security best practices.
• Familiarity with defensive programming, OWASP top 10 to mitigate injection vulnerabilities, cross-site scripting (XSS), server-side request forgery (SSRF). Familiar with authentication principles, security hygiene and data stewardship.

• Ability to lead groups of business customers and external technology partners.
• Ability to establish clarity from uncertainty and break down complex, open-ended problems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You Will Do at Cambia:

• Develops efficient, maintainable, and secure program code and system solutions; prepares comprehensive documentation, test plans, and conducts thorough testing while meeting deadlines.
• Resolves complex programming and business problems through research and innovative solutions; demonstrates expertise in solving technical challenges.
• Provides consulting support to Engineering and Business partners; serves as an Engineering ambassador communicating with Product, Business, and Executive stakeholders.
• Understands and delivers on all Software Development Lifecycle requirements including requirement analysis, system design, data models, and holds self and peers accountable to standards.
• Actively participates in learning opportunities; works to improve both technical and professional soft skills; takes initiative in seeking out work.

Pay ranges vary based on the candidate's work location. The expected hiring range depends on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; and performance history.

Software Development Engineer II:

• National pay structure — applies to the Boise and Lewiston, ID; Salt Lake City, UT, Oregon and Washington. The full salary range is $88,000 - $143,000 and the bonus target is 8%. The expected salary range is $93,500 - $126,500/year.
• Regional pay structure — applies to North Dakota and Idaho and Utah locations outside the metro areas listed above: The full salary range is $79,000 - $129,000 and the bonus target is 8%. The expected salary range is $84,000 - $113,000/year.

Software Development Engineer III:

• National pay structure — applies to the Boise and Lewiston, ID; Salt Lake City, UT, Oregon and Washington. The full salary range is $105,000 - $172,000 and the bonus target is 10%. The expected salary range is $112,000 - $151,000/year.

• Regional pay structure — applies to North Dakota and Idaho and Utah locations outside the metro areas listed above: The full salary range is $95,000 - $155,000 and the bonus target is 10%. The expected salary range is $100,000 - $136,000/year.
