Substitute School Bus Operator II (NON-CDL) Starting Date: Immediately Rate of Pay: $19.55 per hour Location: Manchester, New Hampshire Job Summary A School Bus Operator II improves student achievement by transporting students safely to and from school and school‑related activities, ensuring the non‑CDL school bus or multipurpose passenger vehicle is in safe operating condition and maintaining student safety and behavior on the route. Key Responsibilities Operate a school bus safely and professionally. Pick up and deliver students as per set route and schedule. Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations. Maintain a safe environment, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies. Perform daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Report mechanical failures, delays, crashes, and accidents in a timely manner. Enforce student conduct, ensure authorized students only, and discharge students only at authorized stops. Keep the bus clean and fueled, and use two‑way radio per policy. Perform basic first aid and CPR as needed. Communicate with students, parents, staff, and colleagues professionally. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high ethical standards. Work effectively as a team member and attend scheduled training and meetings. Assure equal educational opportunity to all students regardless of protected characteristics. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Age 18 or older and possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license for a minimum of two years. Valid School Bus (S) endorsement. Ability or willingness to obtain a School Bus Driver Certificate. Basic first aid training and CPR certification. Willingness to participate in the Manchester School District Drug and Alcohol Program. Pass all criminal history checks. USDOT Medical Examiner Certification. Citizenship, residency or work visa in the United States. Strong listening, communication, and understanding skills. Preferred Qualifications One year of school bus (≤15 passenger) driving experience. Familiarity with roadways in Manchester, NH and surrounding communities.
