Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Neuro Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Days (06:45–19:15) | 3x12 per week | 13–26 Week Assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an intermediate care setting with a sub-specialized neurological and medical intermediate patient population at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias via telemetry; initiate and support Rapid Response and Code team activations as needed
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Levophed (LEVO), heparin protocols, insulin drips, and thrombolytic agents
• Manage complex neurological patients including those with CVA, intracranial bleeds, craniotomy, TBI, spinal cord injury, lumbar drains, and post-TPA care
• Perform and oversee respiratory management including ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Float to other intermediate areas and critical care units as needed per unit requirements; work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; experience in Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry required
• Must not be a first-time traveler; prior travel nursing experience required
• Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required; experience with Pyxis and SBAR communication required
• Must be able to titrate Levophed (LEVO) and vasoactive/cardiac drips; must demonstrate competency in IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, PCA, and thrombolytic agent administration
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start; NC or Compact RN license required (pending license acceptable for submission)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with port access/management, phlebotomy, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and triage
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Preferred certifications include CCRN, TNCC, and CPI
