Interim Senior Trademark and Brand Protection Attorney (New York)

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a senior Trademark and Brand Protection Attorney.

Overview : Our client is looking for a Senior Trademark & Brand Protection Attorney (Enforcement Lead) contractor for a 12-month period to join their Legal team. The contractor will be expected to have had 5+ years experience with substantial trademark and brand enforcement experience, ideally from a large technology company environment. This attorney would serve as the lead for the brand enforcement program and broader trademark support activities.

Experience: The successful candidate will be able to operate independently and reflect the responsibilities below.

Location: This role is fully remote anywhere on the East Coast; however, candidates must be licensed in the state of New York.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead our client’s global trademark and brand enforcement activities.
• Manage trademark watch reviews and enforcement assessments.
• Conduct domain name enforcement investigations and strategy development.
• Manage website, marketplace, social media, and other online takedown programs.
• Draft and file UDRP complaints and manage related proceedings.
• Perform naming clearance reviews and trademark risk assessments.
• Draft responses to USPTO trademark office actions.
• Experience drafting responses to CIPO trademark office actions is preferred.
• Support trademark oppositions, cancellations, and other adverse proceedings.
• Provide routine trademark portfolio management and brand protection support.
• Coordinate with outside counsel, vendors, and internal stakeholders on global trademark matters.

Qualifications Include:

• Significant experience managing and executing large-scale trademark and brand enforcement programs for a global company.
• Minimum of three years of in-house experience supporting a large technology, software, or IT company.
• Demonstrated experience handling high volumes of trademark and brand protection matters while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
• Deep knowledge of trademark law, online brand protection, and global enforcement strategies.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, including coordinating the work of attorneys, paralegals, vendors, and outside counsel.
• Ability to lead and drive a high-volume global brand enforcement program with minimal supervision.
• Strong judgment and ability to assess, prioritize, and escalate trademark and brand protection risks appropriately.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage large volumes of work and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to build effective relationships across legal, business, marketing, security, and external service provider teams.
• Ability to mentor, train, and guide junior team members and service providers.
• Highly responsive, detail-oriented, and execution-focused.
