Assistant Project Manager

Location Newark, DE, US Job Summary J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is hiring a full‑time Assistant Project Manager in Mechanical Construction. This role supports the Project Manager, ensuring projects stay within budget and schedule, while coordinating with contractors and reporting progress. Competitive salary starts at $50,000 per year, plus bonus potential, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities Support the Project Manager in evaluating project scope, ordering materials, and maintaining schedule and profitability. Generate progress reports and communicate findings to the Project Manager. Process change orders and bill for work performed in a timely manner. Coordinate material ordering, delivery, and resolve challenges that could impact project timelines. Act as liaison between the general contractor, the general manager, the superintendents, and the Sobieski team to promote a win‑win environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture, or an associate degree with equivalent experience. 0–3 years of direct project experience in the construction industry. Knowledge of mechanical systems and their design, interoperability, and operation. Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Spitfire. Familiarity with financial accounting systems and proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Writer, Visio). Valid driver’s license.
